For those who don't know Emily grew up in Maine - about an hour north of Portland in Harrison. Through out the years she goes back to visit - this fall she headed up to see a college friend's art show at The Portland Museum of Art. Here's some of her favorite sports to visit when she goes north!
What I did:
The purpose of this fun fall trip was to go see my good friend Brian Smith's sculptures. Some good college friends and I all decided to go up for the Opening and treat it as a mini-reunion! As We Are exhibit at the Portland Museum of Art is up until April 2025, features 14 emerging Maine artists creating a snapshot of Art in the US today. I've been going to the Portland Museum of Art since I was a child - I love the The McLellan Mansion that is part of the Museum.
My friends and I always love to go on walks to explore - also half the time there is usually a snowstorm when I visit so the cars might be under feet of snow. The eastern promenade trail is an easy walk and you get to look out on the water!
Where I ate -
The Portland food scene has grown so much since I moved away. Every time I go to visit I must visit Tandem Coffee + Bakery and get one of Briana's loaded biscuits along with some coffee beans to bring home with me. Crispy Gai is one of my favorite restaurants. They have amazing fried chicken, along with tasty Thai dishes, and creative cocktails- best part they also give back to the community! I'm so excited to bring my friends to Room for Improvement - since we all love a dive bar from going to college in Boston.
What I wore:
From the boat out of Vineyard Haven up to Portland it takes about 4 hours. It's so important to be comfortable while traveling - so I always have my waffle Gale Sweatshirt as an easy layer. Maine can be spontaneous so I always make sure to have my Utility Quilted Jacket and a beanie just incase a snowstorm or cold snap arrives. For the Art Exhibit opening I went with Sonderhaus' Paloma Dress the shop just got in - and paired it with a bold lip from Noto Multi - Bene Stick. Travel essentials I must always pack some Le Bon Shoppe Girlfriend Socks and a hair clip. Becca also came on the trip and wore the Coral Dress for the Art Opening!
