I just returned from an incredible 5-day trip to Peru with just a carry-on. Here is the day to day of what I wore, did and ate!
Day 1:
I arrived Lima, Peru and had 24 hours here before heading to Arequipa. I put myself on the waitlist for Central immediately after learning I was going to go to Peru. Lucky enough, the stars aligned and there was a seat available for me to enjoy a meal there. My favorite was the last course - chocolate served in seven ways! I wore the Sonderhaus Eyelet Blouse with the Cassandra Textured Pants and Mary Janes by Small Lot Co.
Day 2:
I took another flight to Arequipa where I would be for the next 4 days to meet new wool vendor and knitting manufacturers so we can create a sustainably made sweater collection for you all next year. I wore my trust Nora Overalls for the quick flight and grabbed some food at Chicha por Gaston Acurio when I arrived. I tried the chupe de camarones, a classic Arequipeño dish. I also took a walk around the city center and ended up going to The Monastery of Santa Catalina - a UNESCO World Heritage Site and this monastery is a large complex of rooms, picturesque plazas, ornate fountains and a maze of narrow, cobblestone streets. It is considered a colonial architecture masterpiece built from white volcanic stone.
Day 3:
It was the first day of meetings with multiple vendors at Peru Moda. It was amazing to meet with the artisans and understand more of the fibers they use which is Alpaca and Pima Cotton. To end the night, I met with my other fashion designer friends attending Peru Moda for dinner at 13 Monjas. My outfit was perfect for day-to-night. I wore the Winnie Dress under the layer of the striped Kelsey Button Down and Rawson Chore Jacket.
Day 4:
Another day full of meetings but I ended it with a factory tour of one of Peru's top knitting companies. I was able to see so many different machines and all the stages of the wool coming to form into a garment. The night ended with a fashion show and a gala night in the city center of Arequipa.
Day 5:
It was time to say adios to Peru and take the long journey back to the island. Before heading to the airport, I grabbed a quick bite at Isidro Comedor. I wore my Forest Pointelle Top to stay comfy throughout the journey and I'm so glad I did because there were some delays and I'm really glad I'm home now.
